Chuck, interesting comment in another thread about an exact barometer reading. After seeing Heiting's new video and planning on getting one myself, I was left with the impression that a change is all thats needed to go back to a fish with, not so much what the actual pressure is. Can you fill us in on the barometer reading you have found to be effective? Thx much.[:)]

Moved the question over to the Pro's Perspective board to get the response you were after, and keep the direct questions to the MuskieFIRST Pros on this board. Great question, I looked into Barometric readings over a 6 year period. I found trend and change in trend to be a factor.

I carry a barometer in the boat. I have noticed that it moves a LOT on most days, even when the weather itself doesn't seem to be changing. I haven't been able to correlate any induced acitivty from these changes, but I believe the fish "sense" these changes as they happen and may affect how they respond, even if the change hasn't registered much on the barometer. I still prefer "active" changes in the weather, but have caught most of my largest muskies on hot, flat days!

Hey Gregg, Water temp and weather conds(this includes barometer reading) will dictate How, What and Where I'm going to fish/guide. I've kept extensive logs thru the years and what I've noticed on most of my great days (very active fish) is the barometer has 98% of the time been between 29.57 and 29.94, as to why this has happend all I can do is guess that this reading is where the barometric comfort level is for the muskies. Another plus added to that would be a low preasure system centered right over the top of the northwood's, if I see this I'm going fishing. Hope this helps my friend.

Sure does, thank you. What brand/type of barometer do you carry in the boat? I would like to purchase one somewhere. Any tips for a good one? Thx much.
