I'm thinking about a new rod for jerkbaits and maybe gliders.

St Croix Premier
PM69HF 6'9" H Fast 1 - 5 oz
PM70HF2 7' H Fast 1 - 4 oz

Other then the 1 oz lure difference, what is the benefits of the extra 3 inches? Does it really make a difference working the lure? Other then the extra length for figure 8s and maybe some extra distance with the longer rod which way would a guy go or is really not that significant to matter? Personally I rather have the 7 footer. I didn't enjoy the 6'3" rod I had in the past, granted that is smaller but after using 7'6"s last year and my new rod this year I think I might get annoyed by the 6'9".

Or maybe even the Shimano Compre 7'2" Xheavy fast.

Thanks for the help.

Kind of depends on how tall you are and what you fish out of....

I don't like my 6'9" rods as much as my 7'6" rods.

If I had it to do all over? They'd ALL be 7'6"

I think the 7'6" Premier would be fine for jerkbaits. I use an 8 footers for jerkbaits. Don't be worried about the length. I'm not a big believer that a jerkbait needs to zip around like a pinball... it's really just the stop & go that makes fish eat them in my opinion.

Well, I used to love my 6'9" Heavy Premier. That was my jerkbait rod. I used the 7'6" Premier for cranks, twitch, and bucktails. Then I started using Avids, and the Premiers hardly got used. I sold them all last winter. This year, I'm using Fig Rigs, and these are some great rods. So much lighter, and the balance is perfect. No more knot in the middle of the blades. My Avids will be sold this winter.
