Posts: 27 | This didn't get any play on the buy, sell or trade board so I am going to try it here. Any help is appreciated. I am looking for any jointed Depth Raiders in the following patterns: Golden Shiner & Redhorse. I realize both of these patterns are no longer available and may be difficult to find. I am willing to trade baits or pay cash. Any feedback is appreciated. I know Durst and other custom painters can duplicate this pattern. The only problem is those older Depth Raiders for some reason catch more fish for me than the new ones have. I don't know if it is just a fluke or if there is any credence to this. Thanks, Scotty

Depending on how old of crankbaits you're talking about it seemed like the plastic used was different. Also see that the new depthraiders have different hooks than the old ones. That makes a huge difference!

Posts: 1207 Location: Pigeon Forge TN. | The Ernies were all made of ABS plastic both the solid painted lip and the clear. There may be some difference in the density, but could the difference also be that the lip was painted? The old ones are getting hard to find.

Posts: 355 Location: Wausau, Wisconsin | The plastic on the old ones was white wasn't it? If you look at the Ernies that new clear plastics looks and sounds like it has a different density. Goofy things man. Just like owning 40 Suicks and only throwing 10 of them. Look at Muskie Town with Chad Cain on how nuts he is about Jakes!

Posts: 2331 Location: SE, WI. | Sent a depthraider back to Roberts outdoors that was pulling apart at the joint and the quality control people told me there was nothing wrong W/ the bait. The old Company stood by there product, no questions asked. This new Co. Roberts,in my opinion is building a less Quality, Softer plastic Depthraider. Softer plastic means hooks eat through bait Quicker, then sell more and make more $$$. SAD!!!

Posts: 663 | This is not intended as an ad but Guide's Choice still has a lot of pre-Roberts Bucher products (sorry not the DR's you're looking for) both hard baits and tails. Most of the stuff is in the trailer getting ready to head to the Chicago Extreme show. If you're interested contact Mike at the shop and he can pull product for you at the show. Frankly I haven't noticed a big difference in the Bucher hard baits since Roberts took over. Tails are another story and I've seen both crummy pre-Roberts and good ones. The newer tails seem to be somewhat improved.
