Posts: 32885 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Well, it's close now. Sand Hill Cranes flying all over southern WI, Geese coming north, and the promise that waters in Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa will be open in a couple weeks. Muskies beware, the Mid West is about to thaw...

Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | Unless my buddy at Fiberdome works extremely fast, spring is not allowed to get here until the middle of April! Warm weather and no boat is not a good combination.

Posts: 2515 Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | Its only 21ยบ down here this morning and I saw Geese flying south yesterday....we had spring in January, we're paying for it now. There's a little ways to go, but definately light at the end of the tunnel.

Posts: 699 Location: Hugo, MN | Wow sucks to be you GMG . . . I am happy to report the conditions in Sioux Falls as mild, and no snow. So what if I have to drive 2 hours to catch a musky? See you all in Eastern Cornland.

How about tactics. On river systems like the Wisconsin do you hit the shallow bays and sloughs in the spring, hang out near the dams, or stay in the channel?

Tuffy - Good read. I'm familiar with many of the Pete tactics. That whitebass comment is right on. In fact in the heat of summer that is what I look for as forage base.
