I prefer Calcutta 250's over 400's. I know I am limiting my retreive speed slightly but is it worth switching to 400's. I have used both and find the smaller reel much more comfortable. Durability has never been an issue with either. I guess what it really comes down to is am I reducing my # of fish by sticking with the narrower reel.

I don't know the Calcutta line, but why switch if you are happy with the reels you have? If you are not catching as many fish as you think you should there is a long list of things I would focus on before reel size. Just my $.02, good luck!
