Posts: 209 | I am considering a numbers/ trophy trip with my kids next summer, and when others have asked about this type of trip most direct them to Andy M/Eagle for his 4- wheeler lakes for #'s and Eagle for the big ones. Two Questions: 1. What time of year would be best? I would think the action lakes would be hot the first couple weeks after the opener, and then Eagle in the fall for big fish? Is there a time when they both can be good? 2. When I fished Eagle in the late 90's (not at A.M. Lodge) I was very frustrated that every time I pulled up on a good spot and started a good drift a TEMPLE BAY 20' boat with 5 people in it would pull up within a cast length and start fishing. It seemed like they looked for any private boat that looked like they knew what they were doing and jumped in. It was so bad.... that it is the reason I have not been back! Maybe A.M. Lodge is located in a different area so this doesn't happen, I don't know the area up there? Help? Jeff

Posts: 2865 Location: Brookfield, WI | T-Dad, Try the fishing reports on the AML website. When I decided to book a trip for this year, I read through almost the whole summer's worth of info. I'm going the week before labor day, and action seemed to be pretty hot around then last summer. Kevin This summer's AML trip initiated the plan.

| Jeff, I am at Andy Myer's lodge 4 or 5 weeks per year! It is an awesome place to fish, and have a shot at BIG girls too. The first couple of weeks of July are hard to beat for both numbers AND big fish! I always travel north for the 1st week of july, but it is sometimes just a bit early....so, the 2nd week is better for bigger fish. Within 10 minutes of andy Myer's Lodge, (an hour to Temple Bay....so you don't have to worry about them cutting you off) there are 15 GREAT weedbeds, and 25 OK weedbeds. It is an awesome time to hang a hawg early. Over the years, I've had a number of fish 48"-52" the first couple of weeks of july. But this is the exciting part....there are 4X4 trips at AML, there is Stewart Lake and Corner Lake(which he has boat caches on) which you can actually drive to, and catch numbers, in addition to the 4X4 trips. I would suggest 2 4X4 trips, 2 guide dates on Eagle, and then explore the other 2 days. The extra $1,000-1,200 it'll cost you for guides, is worth it's weight in gold!! Check out www.andymyerslodge.com Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] Sincerely, Donnie | |||

Posts: 201 Location: Stevens Point | Never been to eagle but have fished the Indian chain which is very near by, it is a great #'s lake, I would be suprised if you didn't hook a fish there even a beginner. We were up there mid to late July. We had a six fish day, put fish in the boat every day. And i I know some of the guides out of Andy Meyers Fish the Indian Chain for that reason and can put you on fish have heard of these guys having much better than six fish days. Hope this helps.

Posts: 734 | AML is the best place I have been in Canada. There is not much better than catching my first muskie with Herbie. The dock assistants take care of your boat, i guess everything there is top notch. I would reccomend going there to anyone.
