| Does anyone know, or have an educated guess, what outfits like Poe's, Suick, (and other folks who don't use epoxy on wood baits)? Looking for a superior quality sealer that'll really soak in.
Thanks,

| Should clarify that I'm looking to find the sealer - for pre-paint - not the topcoat clear. |

| It all depends on the paint that you are going to use.
If you know what kind of paint, contact the manufacturer and ask them waht kind of primer/sealer is compatable.
Don't learn the hard way, like I did.

Location: Central Part of no-where but not far enough away!! | I have found that Zinnzer makes the best in the business. I have used it for almost 3 years now and I have no complaints. Soaks in well, dries over nite with a little air movement such as a fan. I like to dip twice but have been successful dipping once. Works with every paint I have used.

| I used Zinzer Coverstain on 50 lures, and had trouble with every one.
The paint that I used wasn't compatable with the Coverstain, and almost all of the lures split right through 2 coats of Envirotex because when the reducer evaporated from my paint it sucked the Coverstain right out of the wood.
The problem lures that were sent back to me revealed bare wood under the paint and 2 coats of E-Tex. I sent a couple to the tech people at the company of the paint that I use, and they expalined the problem to me, and how the primer/sealer was lifted right out of the lure basically leaving an egg shell of paint and E-Tex around a piece of wood being held in place by the screw eyes.
Before you use any product, contact the people that make the products that you are using and make sure that they are compatable. Either that or use all products made by the same company. Better to check and make sure. It only takes a minute, and every tech person that I've had contact with has been very helpful.
