Posts: 1060 Location: Palm Coast, FL | As I went out on the water today I was so pumped from the Chicago Show this past weekend. I had a husband and wife out with me. Our first stop I was telling them how to figure 8 if they had one follow in. After a little schooling I started to cast myself. On the third cast low and behold I had one follow in. I went around and around and around and finally on the 10th time around she hit! That was just the start of things to come. Over the next 4.5 hours we ended up boating 6 fish, lost 1, and had 4 follows. Midway through fishing when we were moving from one spot to another I noticed something out in the lake. We went over by it and it was a buck swimming across the lake. I maneuvered it to the nearest shore line because I was afraid it wouldn't be able to make it all the way across. I took some pictures of it in the water and also when it was up by shore. I was even able to get some footage of it with my digital camcorder/camera. I will have a couple of these photos on my website soon at http://www.vinceweirick.com. Register and log into the muskie disorder forumn tab. On another note I will be taking some pictures of a really really nice buck a friend of mine harvested this past bow season. It scroed at 184! I will be posting those before the weekend comes.

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Vince, A few more posts and pictures and you will have plenty of boats to keep the ice off the pond. I wish I could get away, but working 6 days a week and kids in sports makes it impossible. Tear them up while you can...............Photos????

Posts: 354 | No need to worry about the deer. They are surprisingly excellent swimmers. Remarkably fast as well. Very cool to see however. Congrats on what sounds like a great day on the water.

Posts: 1060 Location: Palm Coast, FL | Well, we did it again today!...less the deer though. There was just two of us out today. Slammer will have a couple pics up hopefully today for me. One is of the deer from yesterday and the other is a fish from todays festivities. Here are the stats from today...7 fish boated, 7 fish lost, 3 strikes and 10 follows! I can't believe this holding up but hope this is a sign to come for the rest of the year for everyone!

Posts: 1316 Location: Madison, WI | "7 fish boated, 7 fish lost, 3 strikes and 10 follows!" Sounds like a day on the water i had last season, minus the 7 fish boated, minus the 7 fish lost, minus the 3 strikes, minus the 10 follows... ...Well let's stop talking about that day. Congratz on a GREAT day!!!

Maybe go camping and eat some of those excellent ribs from 17th street!!! Getting hungry already! I can't make it out tomorrow on the lake but will be out the next 2 days for sure!

Posts: 1060 Location: Palm Coast, FL | Can these fish ever slow down? Here we go again...another 6 fish boated today. I will let the cat out of the bag a little here. I have been using a bait called a tuff shad. I don't know the size because my measuring stick on the boat starts at 30" and my friends tell me that I am color blind so I don't know the color either. But...what a bait! Going out again tomorrow. Good luck everyone!

Posts: 1060 Location: Palm Coast, FL | I will also say that in the three days we have boated a total of 19 fish...here is the real kicker. Since I work 2nd shift, I am usually of the water around noon. These 19 fish were caught in a total of 13 hours!

Posts: 1086 | That's just simply awesome! That's gotta be a blast to contact around 30 fish in those 13 hours and boat 19 of those. Too cool! I'm green with envy! Wish I could be up there in the thick of things as well....but.....reality of a job and a four month old will keep me at bay. I'm sure you'll be back out there again tomorrow and all this weekend...keep us posted. Any of decent size? Any hogs or Mrs. Piggies being contacted or boated?

Location: Des Moines IA | With all the reports of fish being caught, probably be a pretty busy weeknd ....... Looks like Lake effect snow Friday night / Saturday morning though, so we will probably have to drive through alot of snow to get there ........... Edited by MuskieMike 1/19/2006 9:48 PM
