In the last 5-7 years there have been many additions in regards to lures. I have to an extent got caught up in it. However having moved east I have been introduced to a totally new way of fishing, which is a bit different to how I fished in the midwest. I have been very honored and lucky to introduce, reefhawgs, scharfs, suicks...crane baits...to these fish that are used to other lures...I would have to think that the fish in the midwest...would really like to see these baits again...who is going old school...I would love to see a tourney ran on cisco kid cranks, talleywacker top water, suick and reef hawg only...would be great...ben

It would be fun to do a mini outing and you can only take out a couple of old baits. I'm making it a priority this year to fish with spoons.

Muskie fisherment seem to be a bit taken by trends, that's for sure. The Suick, Reef Hawg, and tallywhacker still get a good workout in my boat. Why stiil use the old stand by's? Because THEY CATCH MUSKIES! The new baits have their place in the arsenal and I'll see which ones stand the test of time and stay there.

BenR....This past year, I decided to go old school with my jerkbaits. Going over my fishing records I noticed that I caught more fish on jerks when I used the old school lures...suicks, bobbies, eddies and bananas. So in '05 I left all of my newer jerks in my garage for the entire season and I found out that there was no reason to buy all the new baits that I had purchased. The 12-15 suicks, the 6 bobbies, the 10-12 eddies and the 3 bananas that I have got the job done very nicely for me. I won't be buying any new jerks...other than a Wabull, if I can ever find one .

BenR.

I will take the newer style baits off of your hands so that you are not tempted to break tradition.

I have gone back to using the Mag Teasertail instead of the Topraider. I think I catch more fish on them, at least on my Wisconsin lake.

Suicks have produced fish for me every year. I will always have a Suick on at least one rod if casting.
Reef Hawgs will always produce fish, I just choose to use Undertakers for the last 10 years.
What about the Hawg Wabbler? Thats old school.
