Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | Looks like I am headed to Florida for part of my spring break March 17-27. I will be staying in Orlando, we are going to drive to the coast (east) and I want to get out fishing while there. Has anyone fished down there with a guide or know any decent guides? Any help would be greatly appreciated, help ease the bordem of being away from school. Thanks, Mike

Location: Athens, Ohio | You can Google Lake Toho guides, or check out the BBC's Gambler message board at : http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/zeroforum?id=38; some of those guys are from down there and just might give you a ride. As you may know, Lake Toho is a world class bass lake right near Orlando, Shaw Grigsby's home water, I think. You need not drive out east unless it is for salt water. Some good lakes over by Gainsville, too. Have fun! m

| I was in Orlando in Spring 2005. I fished redfish with guide Capt. Tom Carver of Flat Addicted Guide Service on Mosquito Lagoon - about an hour or so east of Orlando by Canaveral - an awesome wilderness fishery for redfish, seatrout etc. His rates are reasonable and it's like fishing with a buddy rather than a guide. He runs a Ranger flats boat and really knows the water. Being that close to world class flats fishing you should do the inshore thing - a redfish fight is amazing it was really cool to see manatees, porpoises and sting rays while fishing the flats. Also - take an Airboat ride on the way back to Orlando on the river or at lake Toho- very cool. | |||

Location: Green Bay, WI | I live about 10 miles from Mosquito Lagoon. It is a neat place and I highly recommend a good guide. The place is about 30+ square miles and you can waste alot of time out there. I haven't heard for sure, but the Reds BIG should be in soon... TB Edited by tcbetka 1/9/2006 3:18 PM

Posts: 384 Location: Eagle River, Alaska | Mike...my wife and I have been going out there the last few years in March.....we should be out there the same time you are. If you want to have a real different kick drive down to Miami and fish the canals for peacock bass for a day. I know a great guide there and it is sight fishing and these guys will drag a largemouth five times there size around backwards. I was interested in fishing salt water east of Orlando also....maybe we should get together to do a few days of fishing. Email me at [email protected] and we can chat about it. Brian
