I've been reading this and several other message boards for the last several months, trying to learn something before I seriously begin musky fishing this Spring. In the process I've noticed that the boards all kind of have their own personalities. My friend and I are going to the Tri-Esox show next weekend, and though I've not contrubuted much (I don't know much), I think it would be fun to meet some guys in person. That got me thinking about how to indentify people from the different boards.

MUSKY HUNTER

This is the easiest I think. They're a contentious bunch and I bet they can be found in the parking lot. They'll either be in two groups beating each other with signs that say "Louie Cheated" or "Louie Rules", or maybe divided into four groups wearing their Packers, Bears, Lions, and Vinkings shirts. I picture an "Anchorman" type of fight scene with them atacking each other with 10" Jakes and Jerkbait Rods.

MUSKY NUT

Also easy. For them I see a group of guys shuffling around together like the Emperors in "March of Penguins". All the while mumbling to each other "stupid DDFenner, he better not mess with the likes of meses and youses", or "where's MY Weagle, I haven't gotten MY Weagle, did YOU get YOUR Weagle?"

MUSKIEFIX

This is a little harder. With them I see confident guys walking through the show carrying 50" replicas in Johnny Dadson's bear hug grip. Or constantly asking hypothetical questions to strangers like "20 MPH SW wind, Pre-cold front, cabbage and milfoil on the east side side of a point, sharp drop in water depth, what would you do? What's your favorite pattern???".

MUSKIES101

A nice group. Probably all hugging each other or Laura will put them on timeout.

ESOXADDICT

The only guy who needs his own board. He'll be striding through the show with a lap top around his neck posting while he browses and bs's.

This brings us to the First Board. What should I look for?

Mr. Worrall I picture as a wise stately gentleman trying to intelligently debate the WDNR stocking program while Larry Ramsell throws Suicks at him and yells "what about OUR timeline? WE have a timeline". Or maybe more like a 1940's string reporter in a fedora hat with a press pass in the hat band and a tiny notebook as he covers the event.

The shadowy Slamr character I envision in beret and beard. He'll attend every seminar occasionally yelling at the speaker "off topic, not appropriate for this forum. I'm moving you to another forum".

Beaver, due to his recent troubles, walking through the show smashing every computer in the place. And I wouldn't blame him.

So what do you think? I know I don't know anybody and haven't spoken to anybody. Am I way off base? Help me out. How do I identify any of you guys?

I should be easy to find. I'm the fat, awestruck guy with the gray hair, glasses, and Morningstar Golf Club hat walking around with three Diamondbacks in one hand, a beer in one hand, and my wallet in another 'cause I need to buy so much stuff. Yes, I've grown an extra hand. I think it will come in handy while fishing; scratching, eating, smoking, drinking, etc. Remember, I'm late to this game, I can't waste casting time. I have catching up (and catching) to do. Security may also be dragging me out for pestering Steve Herbeck about my summer trip to AML (Steve what lures do I need?), over and over again.

Seriously, I truly do hope to meet some of you. It does seem like you know people from their posts. I plan on attending the Swap Meet though I have nothing to swap. Again I feel the three hands will work well. I know most everybody visits all the boards and I hope I didn't step on anyone's toes with this obnoxiously long post.

Thanks, Look forward to next weekend.

Kevin

I don't know much, but I have a plan.

Well you confused stately with portley when describing Worrall.
Slamr does not have a beard but does wear a beret and quite frankly nothing else.
Beav will be easy to spot, he will have the chainsaw dripping with computer blood.
Esox Addict will be easy to spot as well, he will be wearing a t-shirt that says "I watched brokback mountain 15 times and all I got was this lousy t-shirt".

I'm sure that it was an over sight but you forgot to mention that the top of Slamr's beret says, "This side up!" and " If you can read this please throw a life preserver to me!"
We'll see you in Chicago!

Except for Dumb and Dumbers posts (ToddM and Muskyboy, guys, you just arent funny) this may be the funniest thread I've seen yet.

And, in celebration of it, I will now change my Avatar back.

I'm just frightened that I got my own category!

Guess I'm living up to my name at least.

ToddM -- don't get the Brokeback Mountain reference. I know it's a movie that's out right now, but beyond that?

What's it about?

------------------------Just looked it up, LOL!

You $^#%^&

I'm still trying to live down the restraining order rumor, the stalker rumor, and the Jeff just wants to get in you-know-who's pants rumor, now you're gonna start one about me being #$%? (or whatever-the-politically-correct-term is these-days)

Kevin
I, like yourself, spend my time lurking on these forums trying to gleen information to make myself a better fisherman. After reading your post I closed my eyes and could see the people on these forums as you discribed them. Well done Kevin, well done.
Chris

PS. You should be writing books not DDFenner he can't even spell. Also don't "camp out " to long by Mike Hulbert, because someone will come along and tell you to continue your "milk run" so they can get their share of what is in your third hand.
