Are there any docks still out at the metro launch? I know they got yanked at Fox Point.

Hey Nightmare,
Not sure but was wondering if anyone has caught any fish with both pelvic fins? Caught my first unclipped fish {37" last week so maybe there is some natural reproduction going on?

goodluck

I've had reports of friends of mine catching fish out there, but have seen no photos, or have had anybody surrender fin clip info. Sorry.

hey MNM- I believe the DNR has pulled all their launch dock's in WI- I was up on the north end of Petenwell last weekend (west side) and the dock was sitting high & dry. Sure is a pain in the behind finding a soft shore spot for the keel.

Have fun!
Al

I found out that the docks and the buoys have been yanked on the Fox. We are still scrambleing to find a place to fish, that has docks out yet. My buddy has a 620, and I cannot imagine what it would be like to launch without a dock. I suppose that if it was warm out, it would not be so bad.

I have caught a few this year with no fin clips. plus a couple that had a different strain look to them. This early summer I caught 2 28-30's that had no fin clips either,
when I talked to kapuzcinski about it, he said sometimes they slip through without getting clipped, but not many. makes you wonder though.
last year I caught something like 8 eight fish with tags on them, this year I didn't catch a single tagged fish. I thought that was weird also.

Havn't heard of any being caught over 50" all fall. and I talked to lots of people on the water. To many spring casualities?

I haven't heard of any either....but not many over the years as well. It was a poor fall for the river. Warm late summer, thick shad, hardly any rain (=current) and then winter hit like a brick sh1t house and water temps droped over 10 degrees in one week. It even iced over for the last weekend and you could only fish the mouth the Friday after turkey day. I don't know how the conditions could have been worse.

Not to mention HIGH winds drawing down didn't help out any. Its just a sewer anyway, those fish have SARS, I don't want sars. I stay away now.

Tough for sure this fall. 4 fish for 5 all day trips, and no big ones. The winds really made the water fluctuate wildly, then rush back with the seiche effect. Actually watched the river rise 2' one day in an hour just due to the water coming back in that had blown out.

Did get a handful over the past couple years that had no clips, and am hoping there is at least some natural repro.

Reef Hawg,
Did you view the presentation on the Fox from the Symposium? It's worth a watch.
