| Steve: interesting story. Wondering where you live? Story is funny, but you've got to remember that these people are very dedicated. In the area that I live (Montgomery County, Maryland), PETA has a lot of polictical clout & the bucks to go with them. As a matter of fact - it started here in the 80s (headquartes since moved to Norfolk, VA) when a federal laboratory was raided and monkeys were taken in a search warrant claiming cruelty. I was part of the police team serving the warrant. These people were somewhat kookie, but very well-educated and really believe in what they stand for. As hunters and fisherman, we must be careful that we do not underestimate them. They never give up. You alos have to remember that they are targeting our youth and are somewhat successful at it. They target the schools, libraries, etc.
Funny story: The detective in charge of the raid was hired several years later by them as the exectutive vice-president. He only lasted two weeks - he came to work wearing a leather coat!!! [] |
