| If you guys were to chose one lake to learn and spend all of your time on(in the metro area), which lake would it be?

| Great question!
If it was me I would be Tonka hands down. The reason is it's so much water and you can break it down into smaller lakes and learn each one. The population of other fish is also very high and will provide action when the big ones are hiding. It could take a lifetime to learn the entire lake...but I think along the way you'd find some big, big fish. |

| My first three choices would be:
1. Tonka
2. Tonka
3. Tonka (in that order)
Tonka is the equivelant to about 4-5 normal sized lakes. I fished there 3 times a week last year and the lake still has many secrets to give up. There are more big fish and a good number of small-mid sized as well. The only two drawbacks are the millfoil and boat traffic. Both of these can be combated with a little practice.
Actually, after closer consideration, Tonka sucks. Don't go there. Spend your time on Bald Eagle, White Bear, or some other lake on the other side of the city

Actually, there is no straightforward answer to your question. Some lakes are better than others early or late in the season. Some lakes are better fished before dawn, some at mid day. Some lakes shine with an East wind, some with a north wind.
I guess what I’m getting at is that there is no one or even two lakes I could answer with. The beauty of living here is the abundance of different waters we have to fish.

| You need to fish both east and west metro theres alot of diference in the metro and by just fishing tonka your not getting any experience on hybrds either,, |

I've caught tigers and they can be fun. But if I'm going out I'd rather fish for pure strain. In my oppinion, tonka has the best potential for big fish anywhere in the metro. The launch is also 2 minutes from my house [:sun:]
P.S. Tonka does have a tiger population, just not from DNR stocking. |
