I've got a Daiwa MillionaireII, that I've had for ever. Never been touched(repaired, or cleaned). It's time. Can I do this with some help, or should I send it somewhere? Whene you tighten the reel, it sounds dry. I could use some advice. Thanks Doug

If the reel still works fine, just open her up and carefully oil the beraings, gear faces, and other friction points without getting any on the drag washers. Hit the worm gear assembly too. Try the reel, if she's OK, no need to send her in unless you just want an expert to take care of the work. That's what I do with most of my reels, let Chuck at Nelson's in Rhinelander fix them up.

That reel was my favorite. I physically wore it out (yes dad, you were right). If you tackle it yourself, use Rem-oil (it has Teflon in it) and white lithium grease. and heed the advice on keeping the drag washers clean.
Good Luck,
Rob
