Posts: 2384 Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | The MN Muskie Farm just delivered 156 2 year old fish to WBL just a few hours ago. So far in 2005 between the TC chapter and the Paul Hartman Trail and guide group we've stocked over 500 fish 2years old or better. We're not done yet. We hope to get another 200-500 fish by the end of they year. Keep supporting both groups so we can continue to do this kind of work.

Posts: 2089 | Lots of work done by these guys. Many kudos to go around, but Mr. Kellet and Mr. Hartman deserve a HUGE thank you. It's a shame that John Q public has no idea the work these guys put into stocking fish."You didn't put these fish in here", oh contrare monfrare, yes we did.Just the beginning. Posts: 2384 Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | The fish the MN Muskie Farm stocked were 16-20" long. The fish we got from Paul Hartman's pond were 26-30" long. Marine, getting the media is something we're looking at doing next year during our netting. This is still a new project for us so it's going to be a work in progress for the first few times. Treats, nice to meet you yesterday at the WB ramp - sorry I couldn't stay and talk but I had to get somewhere. As a North Metro MI member who fishes WB a lot I really appreciate all the efforts. A few years ago the vast majority of the fish in WB were predominantly one year class of mid-30's fish. Stocking has really turned that around. This year I've caught mulitple fish in the 20's, 30's and 40's (no 50's but I know they are there). I only wish there were more lakes that could be stocked in the metro area. Big Marine, in particular, could be an awesome fishery. One other point, it might be helpful for all of us to know how much it costs on a per-fish basis to put those fish in WB. That would certainly give new perspective on the resource we are all trying to nurture. Thanks Again, Steve Hahn Shoreview, MN

Posts: 2384 Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | Hey Steve, great to meet you too. Those fish we just stocked cost us $25/each. Generally you can figure about $1 to $1.50/inch. If you look in your 2006 Muskies Inc Calender there's a section dedicated to breaking down the cost of a fish throughout it's life cycle. Edited by Muskie Treats 11/9/2005 12:41 PM
