Location: Des Moines IA | Well after a LATE night Friday, and a very early, very hungover truck ride for me Saturday, Jeremy and I made it up to Okauchee to fish the KLY Tournament. Had about 30 people fishing the tournament. Almost every boat saw fish, but nobody got any in the boat! We saw 2 fish, had 1 hit a sucker, I set the hook hard but somehow, didn't connect. We managed to raise the same fish 5 times in an hour and a half. Just couldn't get her to eat! Thanks again to the Muskiefirst staff, and all the sponsors for putting on a great tournament! I had a blast!!!!!!

| Drove to Madison for my daughters b.day at school.....man lots of red sweats and jackets in that town. Saw a Huge Buck running a field on the way home on 94.... for a while all you could see was the RACK running above the grass........2pm I daresay the rut is about to break loose. BT | |||

Posts: 32959 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | For esox50 I'll get this started. I wasn't going to go out this weekend, but on a whim, decided to go. I took a friend out who hasn't gotten a muskie yet this year and he nailed a 39.5" on a bucktail. He also managed to lose another smaller fish later on. Preturnover conditions had me worried, but was glad we stuck one, and happier that he got the fish than if I had.

Posts: 2515 Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | Fished all day saturday...about 10 hours....used small suckers, slow moving gliders and Suicks.....did not raise a #*^@ thing. Tried rocks, weeds and points both deep and shallow. Took a ride up to Tenderfoot, counted 17 boats, came right back down.

Posts: 548 Location: MN | Friday morning was on Mantrap. One follow, nothing in the boat. Off and on rain and lots of wind. Moved to the home lake in the eveining (non muskie lake) and lots of fun with seven bass caught. The largest bucket mouth was just over 21 inches. I was throwing a bass Rapala into the reeds. Maybe will put musking in the boat later this week. Nick

Posts: 663 | It was a pretty tough weekend for me and most of my friends who fished the Vilas county waters. Had a large group out Friday on Three Lakes Chain between 4 guides we saw a few fish but didn't put any in the boat. Saturday I fished the same group on North and South Twin with the same results. Sunday I was on Big Arbor Vitae and my client finally put one in the boat late in the day with only a few other fish sighted. I've talked with several other guides with nearly the same stories. An odd fish boated here and there but generaly very slow fishing. All the fish I saw were following either slow moving gliders or crankbaits. I had no pickups on suckers. Temps on the lakes I fished were all hovering around 51 on main lake basins with a couple degrees cooler in shallow bays.

Posts: 323 | Went up to the cabin near Tomahawk to fish the local flowages and river system. Fished all day Thursday and caught a 29" on a Bobbie, a fat 19" smallie on a Pacemaker, and finished the day with a 37" at dusk on a Bobbie. Friday we fished all day and I caught a 33 1/2 on a Suick. Fished all day Saturday and caught a very fat 43"er on a Reef Hawg and a 33" on a Bobbie. Talked to another boat Saturday and they had three fish with the biggest at 42 1/2. Saturday was good with the misty rain and south wind. Fished Sunday for four hours and didn't see a thing which didn't surprize me since the wind shifted, coming from the northeast. We hung meat everyday and had one rip on a sucker on Saturday and my partner missed. I wish I could spend a couple weeks up there!!!!! Good fishing this fall!!!!!!!!!!1

Posts: 25 | Tricked this nice one into eating on Sunday morning. My biggest to date and lucky number 7 on the year...52 x 24. Saw her 20 ft from the boat, about 4 ft behind the lure, increased the speed of my retrieve as it approached the boat and she closed the gap to a couple inches, started the figure eight and she hit in the first turn. It was incredible, hit right in front of me and started wallowing back and forth with multiple head shakes, she attempted to come up but I jammed the rod deep into the water trying to keep her off the surface. She peeled of some line as she headed away from the boat, hit the freespool and she made a couple of runs back and forth around the front of the boat before bringing her back to the boat, but she wasn't ready for the net. Made one more run before heading back towards the boat, with a quick scoop of the net she was in the basket and I was trembling. Measurements and a few quick photos and she was back in the water. Posts: 17 Location: Antigo, WI | Fished one of the smaller lakes on the Three Lakes Chain on Friday before the rain moved in and hooked up with 3 fish. Unfortunately fishing alone I was not able to put any of the these into the net . I had 2 fish on suckers and one on a 9 inch weighted Suick. The one fish I had up to the boat 3 times was in the 41 to 42 inch range, another upper 30's and did not get a look at the last fish. Water temps were in the 54 to 55 degree range. The fish were all relating to the wind blown shore line and came between 2 and 4:15 pm. Mr. Worrall did you fish Pelican on Saturday? Fished there on Tuesday, shared the boat with my mother for the first time muskie fishing ever had a blast with her in the boat even though we didn't raise any fish.

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | Fished close to home this weekend between work. Lost one on Friday, and didn't do squat all weekend. Yesterday was much, much better for the two of us. Castor was a good lure, as was a bulldawg, and an Ernie crankbait. Fish were tight to shore on gravel. Edited by Reef Hawg 10/25/2005 10:39 AM
