Location: Monee, Illinois | Okay with winter about 4 months away (being hopeful) what do you do to your outside of your boat and for that matter your trailer, does anyone wax, or detail the boat themselves. I know alot of marines offer this just like car washes do for cars. What kind of boat do you have and what do you do to it to make it look as close to new as possible. I am thinking cleaning water spots, waxing, carpet, trailer, tires ect. Anyone do anyting special. This is above and beyond winter stuff...

Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | Well to get the hardwater stains off your boat and motor, I use Works Toliet Bowl Cleaner.
I use a small dab on a soft cloth and simply wipe a small area. It takes the hard water stains off right now, with NO rubbing or elbow grease.
Once I am done cleaning the boat, I wax it with 3M Marine Boat Wax.
I also use The Works cleaner on my motor to clean off all that white hard water stains. It makes it look new and clean as possible with no effort.
Use small amounts and a soft cloth.
The 3M Marine Wax is really good stuff. |

| If you recieved any plastic scuffs from dock fenders on the side of your boat, a little rubbing compound does the job well to take it off. There is just enough abrasive in the compound to work through the plastic. After that....a bit of Mequires polish and wax and she's good to go.
I also use some sort of bathroom cleaner on the hull to get the water spots...shines up pretty when done.
Also will be adding a clear film to the trailer to help deter rock chips....

| If the boat is fiberglass, use the wax Liquid Glass. Corvette owners turned me on to it and it works great. It is expensive, about $15 a pint. But it puts on a hard finish. You can find it in most good auto stores. |
