Heading up to the Boulder Junction area from down South later this week on a long anticipated musky excursion. Any feedbeck on what the impending nasty cold front will do?? Will this get the lakes turning over? I am not from the Boulder Junction area and am not up to date on current conditions, any feedback would be greatly appreciated for my upcoming trip North. Thanks.

Yes it will, we're going to have some snow in Rhinelander Thursday. I'd bet the turn will happen very quickly with themps as low as forecast and high wind.

Believe it or not, it's 77 degrees right now in Rhinelander.

Thursday's forecast for Boulder Junction is high in the low 40's, 20 mph winds, and a chance of rain/snow. Sounds like the bottom will be falling out before I get on the water tomorrow!

Don't let it affect you too much. The same thing happened out here 2 days ago. Sunny, calm conditions, highs in the low 80s on Sunday; then Monday AM a front came through and the highs were in the 60s. Lows approaching freezing. Overcast and sprinkling, snow down to 6500 feet. Still had action from 4 fish in about 8 hours of fishing Monday evening and Tuesday morning. Just go and have fun; prepare yourself for the weather w/ appropriate clothing, the fishing will take care of itself. Try to keep a positive and optimistic attitide and don't let the weather become an excuse. The fish still have to eat.

Being that one of the measures of success for the weekend can hang on one strike from one muskie, you should still be going up to Boulder Junction without regard to the weather because, "the best time to go muskie fishing is when you can!" and, "the only rule is there are no rules!"
I would rather go and not catch a muskie but have the chance to, than not go and wonder what would have happened.

I agree with Steve, just the chance of catching one is worth it.

Yeah, cold front this week all right. Said the wrong thing to the wife again. Wait, are you all talking about the weather?
