| Hello I had two broken C3's that ABU won't replace and was curious if it is possible to change out the gears to make my working C4 a C3? Also is this a hard job? This is my boat guest reel and would prefer it have the slower ratio..thanks, Ben |

| As long as both of the reels are relativley new (within the past 7 or 8 years) this switch should work without a hitch. The swap is very easy and if you have any mechanical dextarity you should have no problem. In fact if they are both 6500's you can just loosen the three thimb screws and swap the entire side plat, guts and all. You would have a two tone reel but it would work just as well. |

| If you just want the gears, direct replacement sets (main & pinion) can be had from Abu (Pure Fishing) or places like Hatteras Outfitters. Hatteras used to sell the stainless sets too, but I don't see them on their site anymore. The standard brass sets are around $25 in either 5.3 or 3.8:1.
