| I have an idea on how to make tackle boxes theft proof but need info on what type of tackle boxes most of you own so I can tailor it to the specific models. Thank you for any input. | |||

Posts: 8865 | Other than chaining them to the boat it's pretty much not theftproof unless its too heavy to lift...

| I know what you mean but I have heard of several tackle boxes being stolen and I can't stand thieves. The idea I have will hopefully deter thieves and give people who actually pay for their tackle a bit of piece of mind. Just trying to help. Thanks for the reply. | |||

Location: Athens, Ohio | does this involve doberman dogs? As in: what's black and brown and looks good on a tackle thief? A doberman! I use a big Plano. m

Location: Minneapolis, MN | Don't use boxes. They are like a big sign that says steal me. I put all my baits in little 7300 Plano boxes and throw them in my boat storage compartments where they are secured with a Loc R' Bar. http://www.locrbar.com/

Best theft device is bringing it all inside with you at night if you can. At our lake...I never leave any of my tackle or gear out in the boat. It may take me three or four trips to the cottage from the boat...but it's all worth it. We just have too many thefts around those cottages anymore to trust it'll all be there in the morning. Have way too much invested in it all to chance it.

Posts: 202 Location: Angola, IN | I'd go with the weight idea. Just joking of course. But I have a "Two-Man" tackle box. It's not finished yet, but it weighs at least 50 pounds right now. Finished and fully loaded with lures....I have no idea, but wouldn't be suprised if it was triple digits. So far, it's made from: 1 complete sheet of 3/4" plywod Approx. 20' of 1X1 3 layers of 1.5 oz. fiberglass cloth Approx. 3 gallons of Polyester Resin Now I think of it....each one of those gallons weights about 15 pounds!! Heck, the plywood weighs probably 30 pounds..... We call it the "Dog Coffin".....and it's a nuclear bomb proof St. Bernard burial vault Edited by SteveHulbert 8/9/2005 9:28 PM Attachments ---------------- Tackle Box.JPG (40KB - 127 downloads)
