| Looking to change things up this year and go to Canyon Lake north Vermillion Bay. Does any one have any info on how good the fishing is, not only for muskies but walleyes and smallmouth too. Also, how big do the fish get on Canyon. We're going up on Sept. 16th for a week, and may also do some grouse hunting while there.
I've done the Eagle lake thing during that same week, and true the muskie fishing was great, the walleye and bass fishing really sucked. So I'm hoping to find a new place.
It looks like there is only 2 lodges on the lake if anyone has any recomendations.
Anyone have suggestions on lures or techniques ??

Location: Anchorage | Was on Canyon for a week in mid July for the first time. Beautiful lake with lots of fish, but a bit tricky to pattern. At the time, there were lots of smaller fish were on the VERY steep to vertical shorelines which dropped to 30+ feet. Much of the lake is like this and the fish were on the areas near little rock fingers, current areas, etc. The bigger fish were on main lake structure and over open water. Saw several over 45, with a couple edging 50, but only managed a 43 for tops. Wally's were plentiful, but hard to find over 16 to 17". Nice, clear, medium sized water with lots of midsized muskies. Haven't decided if we go back or try LOTW next year for bigger fish.
There are three lodges, North Country, Blyth's, and McIntosh. We stayed at a private cabin but talked to all three lodge owners. Simply based on a quick look at the cabins and a chat, I would look a bit more into McIntosh Lodge. Just my 3rd and 4th cents. |

| fished canyon for i'd say 1 full day and 1 half......caught 6 one day and 1 the other......bucktails around the islands and in the bays biggest was 38....almost every one ate on a figure 8 really fun...good luck |

| ZAK, Would you reccomend spending a whole week on Canyon, or would you go somewhere else. |
