I decided to head out to a local lake this morning at 5:30 to try out the bluegills, crappies and walleyes, and maybe toss a spinnerbait for awhile. I pretty quickly boated a limit of nice gills and crappies and a couple small walleyes, so went off to the edges to pitch spinnnerbaits. Three nice bass, two nice pike, and three muskies later(all returned to the pond), I headed home to clean the panfish. Had bluegill fillets fried crisp and a nice omelet, topping off a great morning!

Sunday Sue and I went to a Lake X in the area and repeated Saturday, at least a bit. We caught enough crappies and gills to do a brunch for the family, and 1 muskie. We left fairly early because of the heat, no fun out there in 90 degrees. Water temps were 75.9.

Ditto that beav. Hey at least it was cloudy today, no rain mind you and I seen a creek today that had pools between it's dry spots. I am just looking forward to 102 tomorrow!

I took my twin 2 year olds to a pond ueserday morning too. They both caught their first fish ever. Both nice bluegills. The only thing i did was cast for them. It was awesome! I have pics that will remind me forever. My 4 year old got jealous and decided he wanted to play in the sand. Today? 115 degree heat index predicted.

Sounds like a very relaxing fun morning on the water, I could use one of those right about now.

Steve,

Thanks for stopping by the shop yesterday and chatting. Brooke LOVED the plaque.

Also, thanks for the tip on the bluegill. I took Darrick out this afternoon (Sunday) for a couple of hours of playing. We kept 12 nice bluegill up to 9 1/2". All on that "magic" bait. I grab a jar of the grubs and broke them down into maggot sized pieces. No live bait and we caught them as fast as we could get the baits out there.

Darrick wanted to throw his Scum Frog for some bass, so I took him to the weed and pad areas, but nothing doing. Never caught any crappie either, just the bluegill. They sure are scrapers though.

Darrick has no clue on what lake we were on and heck, Mom does not even know where we went. But I agree, it was a little toasty out there today. I had the fishing sandles on and forgot about them. My feet now have nice racing stripes. Water temps for us ranged from 76 in the main basin to 81 near the shore.

Gotta love going stealth with the little boat.

Thanks again for the tip. We will have to share a boat in the near future.

Chuck
