Location: Madison, WI | I am heading to Detroit lakes and will be staying on lake Melissa. Is there musky in Melissa? Any other lakes close by worth dragging the boat? I'll have access to a pontoon and small fishing boat on Melissa. What type of tackle should I bring, bass, musky, walleye, etc....
Thanks for any words of wisdom!

| Mellisa is not known to have many Muskies in it. Several Pike in the 30"+. Lake sallie has good muskie. Several in the mid 40"s. Bucktails, Suicks seem to be the best. Big Detroit has a great muskie population. Many fish in the 40"+ are caught. A 56" was caught a couple of weeks ago. Fishing has been slow this year. Best baits seem to be bucktails and topwaters at dusk have been the best so far. Good luck.

Location: Perham, MN | If the lake is too busy you may want to consider fishing lakes conected to it.
-If its not covered in slime your wasting your time |

Location: Madison, WI | Just my luck that the in-laws have a place on a lake with a low population of muskie! Can you navigate from Melissa to any other lake by boat? Sallie? It looks like there is a dam.....I spoke to a guy that has a place in the area and he said Melissa is a great lake for fishing in general but not many muskie. I'd love to fish Detroit lake but think I will be leaving the boat at home. Maybe I can trailer the cabin boat, we'll see.
Thanks for the help guys! |
