I am going to LOTW from 6-14 of july. I will be fishing near Big Island and the Basil Channel. Hows the fishing been? What colors/patterns have been hot? Have they moved to the rocks yet or still in the slop? Any specific baits working well? I absolutely cannot wait for these 9 days in paradise. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks

Heard from a few guys who wereat Bill Sandy's. They have had front after front. I didn't get specifics, just that the fishing has been hard.

Just returned from a week at the Northwest Angle. Major fronts, rising water, bloom starting in areas. Fishing was tough! Saw less than five fish/day

I just got back last Saturday from a week of fishing of the area you mention. Water temps. by mid-afternoon was 65 to 66 degrees, actually water got cooler as week progressed. I got four muskies first three were triplets all around 44 1/2 inches and one around 33 inches. Fish were still back in the bays in shallow weeds (cabbage), only baits that worked were spinnerbaits, nothing on topwater except a 35 inch northern. My best spinnerbait was a 5/8 ounce reed runner with crawdad skirt, but I change the top blade to a bigger one an copper no. 8 indiana blade (stamped), also had hits on my favorite Marv's spinnerbait black with gold blades. We tried reefs, saddles and around islands but only a few smallmouth and northern showed up. In my opinon it maybe another week before they move out. Good luck, Al

Any new reports.

We have been seeing a few fish, but all smaller around mid 30's to low 40's. Just not seeing any bigger fish yet this year, and most seem to be sluggish.

Thanks

Fish weeds - fish hard

two over 47" last week - multiple fish days are the norm / July 1-4th was tough (only two skies in the net in four days) otherwise fishing has been great.

We had a good week 2-9 but had to work hard for our rewards. They seem to be relating to weeds for the most part. Best baits were glide baits on the edges worked very slow and spinnerbaits and top water in the slop. Water temps were on the rise when we left topping out in the mid-sixties Friday.

just got back....i caught 5 42" biggest on a Triple D 2 37.5", 36", 33" dad caught 3 biggest was a 44.5", 34", 31" all caught on a bucktails.....fish made their way to the rocks for sure. the early morning bite was real good this year all of our action came in the morning to 12. Majority of fish were caught on char/black/white bucktails. Still check the weeds on flat calm muggy days. Fish the wind pounded rocks. Good luck

My wife and I were over in Sabaskong bay from the 6th to the 11th. Tough fishing, but managed to boat 6...largest being 40". Every fish was caught on an orange bladed harasser with black and orange hair. Could not find any pattern to finding fish. Some on reefs, some on rocks, some in saddles etc. The only thing that we did seem to find is fishing along channel areas, going from island to island. The 9th and 10 showed some fish that were larger in the mid 40's range. Any island that had a little point with weeds coming out a ways from shore, or a bay with weeds in them we found fish. Found follows, but not many takers.

Best fish was the 40 incher that went around about 8 times in a figure 8 before hitting.

Caught one really nice 38" bonus northern as well on a pearson grinder in the weeds...again orange and black.

Weather was steady, but winds low and from the south-east. Found mornings to show more fish as well. Mid day was a waste, and dusk showed a couple. Once the wife gets the pictures off the camera and onto disk I'll post the ones we took pictures of.

Fished the Walker area on the 11th before the front came in and caught two...a 38" and a 31 incher...then everything shut down when the wind switched. Wished I could have been on the woods then... Oh well... We're booked for next year already... only about 360 or so days of waiting...
