the first thing that comes to mind would be they are looking for cover... or maybe your boat was stirring up some food.

I had a Bluegill trying to hump my Pacemaker last week. Followed on 4 consecutive casts and was even "attacking" the thing.

They follow cuz they're horny...

The Aussies reckon the fish like GT'S and Barra's follow other hooked fish in as distessed fish often cough up food and they shadow them, a lure should behave like a distressed fish so maybe there is something in it.

I've had Bluegills, Rock Bass, Perch, and gamefish smaller than the bait I was using hit the lures. maybe, because your bait appears injured, that the school of minnows felt that they could all dine on "that injured fish" that they were following as soon as it expired?

I love it when perch are follow in my bait! We refer to as "schooling em up". You just have to hope the fish hits the wounded looking one. As for why... I have no idea, but it seems like they follow more when I'm using perch patterned baits.

I would agree with Muskienightmare, they think the fish is potentially injured and aren't smart enough to realize that they can't fit something twice their size in their mouth!!

We see it a ton on shad lakes Mostly when the shad spawn. i think they follow because they are a schooling fish or they fornicating, but i do like the puke theory!

We took this photo when my son was fishing from the pier while I was parking the truck. I was walking back to the pier when he was yelling "Dad hurry im getting follows on every cast" when i got to the pier he was right about a doz shad on every cast. Guess what we caught that day, we caught S@#$ that day!!
