Subject: Wiring question

Well I'm on the up hill side of the boat owning learning curve. I bought a used boat over the winter and am discovering things I wish I would have discovered before buying the boat.

Anyway - the previous owner has the console and bow sonar running off the cranking battery. I can see how the console might be ok, but shouldn't the bow sonar be run off the deep cycle batteries? If I'm in the bow most of the day and not running the big motor (thus not recharging the cranking battery) don't I run the risk of cycling the cranking battery too much and therefore damaging it?

Thanks,

John

Depth finders don't use very much power. I wouldn't worry about it.

I have my bow depth finder running off of my starting battery too. If I hook it up to my deep cycle batteries, I get interference from my trolling motor.
