Subject: We all must fight this!!!

Here is some information on happenings on Lake of the Woods! Attached is a email from a few people plus one by Gord Pyzer explaining the situation. We all must do our part in stopping large Commercial fishing operations on our Lakes. The one thing that can be done is not to buy any Walleye from any restaurants and fish markets. Eliminate the Demand!!!

Regards
Cory Toker
Hi guys,

I have been flooded with emails similar this one which is attached ! !

I believe as a well managed, responsible fishing club, we have to band
together with other fishing clubs, organizations, professionals in the
fishing industry, government officials, and more than likely lawyers to see
what can be done about this severe problem.

We as citizens, and as tax payer deserve the right to be heard, and we
deserve to be able to help protect the sport fishing industry.

I will be calling an executive meeting very shortly to determine what kind
of response we can put together. I will also be asking the executive to pass
a motion to spend the maximum allowable amount of monies to properly contact
ALL FISHING camps and lodges, media (T.V. and print) as well as possibly do
some advertising ie. Kenora newspaper to try and get other concerned Ontario
residence aboard. I also believe that we should consult our lawyers, in
regards to a possible injunction, to give this the proper time and attention
which it deserves, before it is too late.

In the mean time I believe we should contract a person to compile a CONTACT
LIST of email/mailing addresses of all lodges, dealers, retailers, and
private citizens.

I truly believe that we will be able to get the communities support and the
financial support to carry on this campaign.

Now is the time to step up to the plate, as we cannot allow the provincial
and federal government to wash this serious problem under the rug.

I will be looking forward to all of your comments and concerns.

Thank You,

Dave Korstrom

As a U.S. member of the Canadian Esox Association, please help us in any way you can think of to stop this excessive gill netting on LOTW, an area where most of us fish each and every year!

It's a shame that big money industry is ruining great fisheries in the name of the all mighty dollar. Big as it is , it cannot substane such a large amount of fish being taking from it. I hope that LOTW can be saved and not pushed back to what it was in the 70's and 80's when people could fish a whole summer and see MAYBE 10 fish that would weight 30lbs. From what I've read in the past few years, for the people in the know, they can see , on a good trip, that many in a week. I've read the musky fishing on Lake of the Woods has improved a lot in the past 10 years, lets hope it wiil continue to do so but with all the netting , spearing, and such , it doesn't look good. Boycotting those places that sell walleye would be the logical thing to do. I for one will not buy ANY walleye from this day on. If I can't catch it , then I won't eat it.

Just my $.02 worth

What a greedy bunch take, take, take, where is all this nobility they are always preaching, I will never buy eye or go to a casino, no not even with only $20.00, the New Red Lake LOTW, ancesters, forfathers, pride, there seems to be no consideration of this factored into these actions on walleye Central a few weeks back it suprised me how many saw no problem in going to market "it's good fish"
they say B.S. it's all our future, No race, religion, occupational needs, just greed.

More is gonna be needed to fight this effort than a small group of "musky lovers" boycotting restaurant walleyes. I admire the attempts to change this wrong but preaching to the choir isn't gonna affect the situation. Convince the media there's something wrong and maybe a change will occur..
