Has anyone found that the washer/friction discs or whatever they are called that are used to control or adjust the co=pilot on a tiller motor have worn out. Even when I move the horizntal lever adjustment for the co-pilot on my O/B to the max setting I still get very little "hold" from it. I think it may be worn out but cant recall ever hearing of anyone replacing the carn thing. Havent call the mechanic yet but woould like to be up on what I might be looking at as I get in to this.
Thankls, Karl

Have you adjusted the bolt/nut underneath yet? The arm that you are talking about should have a nut or bolt underneath. Sometimes all it takes is a 1/4 turn or so to tighten it up enought to have it workign fine. Exact same thing happened with my old 25hp. Worked fine after that minor adjustment.

BINGO!!!! Thanks, that did the trick. Was on Lake Michigan out of Hammond Indiana, trolled for 3 1/2 hours. Hit Gary Light, Dean Mitchell, and Right Outside Patrick Marina. Got a 3# coho just before 7pm. 4 other boats in the area all hooked up at the same time. Thought we hit a feeding window but no-one hooked up after that. Back to muskie on wednesday.
