Subject: GPS Chips and MMC cards

I need some advice regarding GPS chips and MMC Cards. Here are my questions:
First of all, I own an Lowrance Ifinder unit if that helps. Although I think this would apply to most units.

Can you save GPS waypoints onto the map chips such as the hot spots and lakemaster chips? I guess I mean can you use these in place of an MMC card to save data?

If so, I am assuming there is no need to buy an MMC card. When you save stuff from your GPS to your computer, can you just plug your unit into your computer and move it from your GPS to the computer or do you have to buy one of those MMC card reader devices to transfer the data?

Your answers may create more questions from me but that's OK. Any help you guys can provide is appreciated. Thanks.

I have a blank MMc card that I use. Save it to the card then put it in the reader and save it to the PC. I use the program in Map creat 6 .

You want to save them to a seperate chip, not the mapping cards. If saved to the mapping cards, you'll erase you maps!
