| All you can do is try to educate those other species fisherpeeps that you come in contact with about musky's true diet habits which are primarily rough fish and muskies pose minimal risk to other game fish! | |||

Posts: 20281 Location: oswego, il | Tim, I bet your research information came from the dnr website which is a promotional tool to promote musky fishing. The reason muskies are stocked anywhere is to promote fishing and tourism in an area. Very few lakes are stocked with musky for control of an overabundant population o fish. With that in mind, the whole idea is to promote tourism to generate money for business whgich includes guide bunsiness. Guides have to promote themselves to get business. North Webster benefits to what I would be willing to bet a 6 figure benefit from those slimey critters being in the area. Do I like how crowded it is on the lakes? No. Were all these lakes completely develoved with homes before muskies were in there? yes. We are really just displacing bass boats at the ramp. Our best solution to the problem is simple wheter it be indiana, the milwaukee area or minnesota. Our main focus should not be alienation, it should be passionatley and aggressively trying to get new musky water.

Posts: 1887 Location: syracuse indiana | hey todd i fully agree with you man!! its not just here but i bet almost every where. and as for the guides they promote the area. and they do teach cpr to their clients so that most of the fish chasers take care of the fish. and yes we do have pressure and it does not really help with the fish but most of the indiana , illinois, kentucky lakes do get alot of pressure. but what else can we do but deal with it and fish....bill

Posts: 20281 Location: oswego, il | The other arguement I forgot to address was the water temps. I seen 81 degrees on one lake, one day last year. The year before I never seen 80 degrees on any lake and the year before just over 80 degrees for a couple weeks. You would have to go back to '01 to find bad water temps for those lakes.

Posts: 170 Location: Valparaiso , Indiana | I seen a 40 incher floating on Webster yesterday! I hate to say it but I've been seeing alot of dead muskies on webster in the past couple of years. Some non muskie fishermen hate muskies and kill them when they catch 'em! There is not much you can do about those people! Just remember some muskies get hooked so bad that they will die no matter what you do to save them! It happens sometimes!
