Location: nationwide | Hey Mr Worrall, I found this slammer slo mo in the 40% off bin from Thorne Bros at Blaine and figured I would guinea pig it to try a few things. I may try to make some of these from scratch but wanted your thoughts before trying. The main wire through the body is used to attach the spreaders/stingers to, so the lure is 100% through wire, although I did think of putting a very small blade on the rear main wire loop to tink into the flaptail.
Your thoughts or modifications still needed?

I saw the topwaters in their booth, in the bargain bin, but didn't see any with the modifications that yours has.
Scott Persons who has owned Slammer Topwater, for a number of years, and is doing a great job. He has consistantly kept the quality up. He has added to the product line quite successfully. His Creepers are especially good with extra heavy duty wings.
I wasn't surprized to see the Splashtail Baits in the bin as they usually catch fish rather than fishermen! If your bait was mine, I would do a custom paint job in any of three colors:
Black; Midnight Shadow; or Extra Dark Indigo!

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Looks good, but do not put anything on the blade that makes it 'klink'. Dave Snoddy used to toss out any Snodlow that made a metallic sound. I just tuned 'em.
The hook setup might fight itself a bit, but it also might be just fine and a great hooking lure.. I catch nearly all my fish on the stinger, so I like to keep that very clear of other hardware. |

| I respectfully disagree with the metal klink needing to be eliminated. As long as the blade is still allowed to flip water and make its deep "bloop" sound. One of my Joel Wick flatptails has a very distinct metal klink and it has drawn many fish. There are other baits like the pacemaker which have a metal ticking sound as well. It reminds me a bit of Pete Mania's assertion in his latest book that glow in the dark baits "spook" fish. Try lighted blades right at dark. It won' work. Ha, Ha.
Just a difference in opinion, but then again who the heck am I to say.....

Location: nationwide | Thanks for the input guys. I tried it in the river by the house last night and I really like how it works. If I turn any out on the lathe from scratch I will make slightly larger in diameter and length.
