Posts: 670 Location: Minnetonka , MN. | The Wife has given the OK for a GPS upgrade . I have it down to 1) LCX-111c hd 2)GlobalMap 7600c hd 3) GlobalMap 7500c or maybe a GlobalMap 7000c. The 111 is the only one that has the sonar with it. The 7600 has the hard dirve . The 7500 is new this year and the 7000 is last years. I don't know what to get. I don't know what is going to be loaded on the hard drive.

Posts: 656 Location: Forest Lake, Mn. | Teck: Just found out about your surgery. Heard all is going well. I'm very glad of that. Let me know if I can help. Oh, boy! New GPS. Hmmm! Well all the models that you list are Lowrance so that's great. I wouldn't own anything but Lowrance. Not sure what to tell you as I don't know for sure just what other units you have in that Warrior. So I tell you what I'm doing with my new boat. Last fall at the International Tourney I bought a Lcx-104c unit. That was going to be my main unit at the helm, but now it's obsolete so I'm putting it up front. Brand new not even out of the box yet and it's obsolete. For my main unit at the helm it's a toss up between the LCX-110c and the LCX-111c both have sonar. The difference between the 2 units are that the 111c has a 20 gig hard drive built into it. I was talking to the staff at Thorne Bros and they raised some good points about the 111c. They were concerned that the 111c hard drive wouldn't stand up to the pounding of a boat in rough water and also were concerned that the microprocessor speed wouldn't be fast enough. They thought that if the speed was to slow that at high boat speeds that you might travel across the water faster than the unit could keep up to, so that your already past where the unit says your at. They didn't know for sure if this would happen as they haven't had one in the shop yet to play with. So, your guess is as good as mine on that one. With that in mind I'm now leaning towards the LCX-110c. I already have the MapCreate 6 software and will have to use that with my LCX-104c so I might as well save a couple of hundred $$ and buy the 110c and not have to worry about the hard drive. There are 2 advantages to going with seperate sonar and gps units. 1.) If one unit breaks you can still use the other unit so your not without both functions like you would be with a all in one unit. 2.) If you do a lot of trolling it's nice to have 2 full screens to use. You can have a full screen gps/waypoint + map and a full screen with 2 zoom sonar. Makes it easier for older eyes to see and also to follow your waypoint for your trolling pass and watch for bait and muskies on the sonar. Of course the drawbacks are space in the boat for 2 units at the helm and also more $$$$! Don't know if any of this helps or not but it's the best I can do for you. Good luck let me know what you get. Hope all is well with the health issues. See you at the meetings

Posts: 656 Location: Forest Lake, Mn. | P.S. Go to the lowrance website and you can do a side by side feature for feature comparison of all the units. www.lowrance.com Also from what I have been able to learn, no one seems to know what's going to be loaded on the hard drives.
