| Hi everyone,
I was wondering how some of you who might fish the "Dairyland Res" just outside of Ladysmith did this past year. I for one only got to fish it twice and managed a couple of small fish.

| Hello,
I have been on the Dairyland a few times in the last couple of years. It is a different body of water, it lacks any real good weeds but where you can find any weeds at all, you will probably have some success. The fish out there love to eat on top water baits, I like to fish Holcombe Stompers and Top Raiders, it is also a very good bucktail water. I like to stick to copper or orange blades and black or brown bucktail. I picked up my biggest fish out there last year on a walleye colored Dunwright glide bait. I like fishing the Dairyland beacuse it challenges myself. Hope to see you up on the Dairyland next muskie season. Right now I am studying hard trying to graduate college from St. Cloud State University.

I haven't fished it in a couple of years, but I used to fish it a lot (my ex is from up around there). I like just about anything that's connected to the Flambeau, even fishing muskies on the free-flowing sections. Good water. By the way, did you get in touch with the New London folks? They are going to fill up fast this year.

I agree with what Casey said. The fish really seem to like topwaters. Topraiders, Slam'er's Twister w/buzz blades, etc., have got the fish going for me. I have concentrated a lot of my efforts on the southeast section of the flowage near the island. There's quite a few weeds in there, and the muskies are concentrated there. I have not tried to fish for any of the suspended muskies that may be following baitfish around. I'd be interested to know if anyone has tried the area around the humps near the dam.

Location: north central wisconsin | Fished the humps quite a bit actually by the dam during summer months with little action. I think I may have to be hitting that area more in the fall. i like the area I refer to as the 'big bend' up river. Nice weeds coming off the long sand bar. also, a few submerged stump fields can be good too. |
