| Does anybody have any luck with blue on lures or bucktails? I hardly ever see a lure with over half of the lure being blue
is it not a good color? what color is blue when it is 10 feet down or so? Just looking for some feed back was maybe thinking of
having some lures done in blue but I am not totally convinced yet that it will produce. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Blue holds identity very deep, or in lower light. I use the color alot! Purple, using a blue base mixed with a bit of red to acquire compound color, has been very good to me. |

Location: Oregon | For what it is worth there is a guide in IL that fishes some of my baits, everything he orders is in "blue"...says it is by far the most productive color he fishes.
In my home waters where we back troll for steelhead, blue or a combination of blue and red will fish as good as any other scheme available.

| There must be something to the color "blue" based on my sales data and my discussions with other anglers. Most of my sales of the color blue (mixed with other colors/patterns) have gone to anglers in the south and eastern regions of the US. I had a discussion with a charter captain from the Lake St. Clair area and he told me that if I could ever come up with a bait that was both chrome & blue that he would order a 100 pieces from me. He told me that for a while Drifter tackle made a Believer that had a chrome head & belly with a blue body and back. He told me that particular bait never ceased to produce no matter what the conditions were. I have heard similiar stories from other anglers that have used this chrome/blue combination. |

Location: Holly, MI | I think Blue is under utilized by muskie fisherman. Look how many baitfish have at least some blue on them. Think about the two most often seen good old fashioned Rapala minnows. Blue/silver, black/silver. Bajillions of them have been sold, not without reason. Giant color in the salmon trolling world as well. |

Location: Kalamazoo | I have had good success using lures that are blue. Blue with a white belly work well for me. This is for glide and jerkbaits. Oddly enough, my blue and white bucktail has not produced for me. Maybe its a confidence thing. My blue and white squirko is my number confidence bait, maybe I catch more fish with it because I stick with it longer. Lately I have been wondering how important color really is. I would think presentation and action would rule over a color. not sure though |

Location: Oconto Falls, WI | I really never cared for lures with blue on them, but the last few years have proven to me that it is a very good color. I especially like using it on bright, sunny days in clear and tanic waters that contain cisco. I have found that it is a color that tends to be lake specific, but then again what color isn't. I have also done well at night using blue.
Blue/White tends to be a good color post cold front (classic bluebird days), and on pressured waters. |

Location: Florence, Wisconsin | I have one of Mike G's blue custom paint jobs on a lure and do very well with it. All other colors I have tried in the past on this particular lure style have had minimal success. Maybe its something, maybe its not. I like blue.

| I use blue a lot. In all of my lures for cisco patterns and shad pattens.
Like Worrall said, I like to blend blue/purple/black.
Blue is also good to use as a highlighting color.

Location: Wales Wi. | I fish blue a lot on clear water. One of my biggest fish came out of Big Round on a 13 inch crank that I doctored up with blue prizim tape. A silver blade bucktail with blue hair is a local favorite on Leech,another gin clear lake. |

| on st. clair the color blue is great in cold water priods. blue frog is a good color in silty grey waters mid season also. the real baits to watch for the casters are the bikini baits awesome job. |

Location: Illinois | Well. since you asked I can come clean. A couple years ago the Parrot pattern was far and away what the fish wanted on the body of water I fish. I would troll a parrot and usually a miller perch or firetiger. All the fish I caught except one ate the parrot. I looked at the color schemes and the only real difference was the color blue. Not many manufactureres still use the parrot pattern but it is killer. By the way, this was a dark water system. hj |

| I am surprised that no one has mentioned this- but I don't believe muskies can see the color blue or purple - they see it as gray - I have read that in more than one place - so when you are buying a blue or purple lure - it is really gray or dark gray to the muskie's eye |

| blue can also be a good coldwater period choice in very stained water. I like it under about 50/55 deg. For some reason only in spring, not much luck in fall, for me! |

Location: Ogden, Ut | I guess I'm one of the few that has not had much success w/ blue baits. I only fish one place for muskies (tigers) and the predominant forage is yellow perch and black crappie, maybe that has something to do w/ it. I'm sure it can be a good color elsewhere, I just have little confidence in it here.
