Location: Kawarthas, Ontario | I prefer bars over spots... the stripe pattern provides a better contrast. Jailbird (or bumblebee) is an incredibly awesome pattern. However, if you paint your own baits, you can alternate black and white, chartreuse / pink / or orange with black or brown to create an even more pronounced effect. (Alternatively, you can use prism tape to create the same effect on a solid coloured bait.) This colour patterning was something that Len Hartman did very successfully. Almost all of his "BUGS" were painted in a striped pattern. He was a firm believer in the success of this contrast in colour to catch a muskie's eye. While the legitimacy of the size of some of his fish was an issue, there is no question that the man caught hundreds of huge muskies!!!!
