Posts: 2 | Some buddies and I are planning an outing somewhere in Indiana to fish muskies for the first time. Can any Hoosiers or fishermen familiar with the waterholes in Indiana offer any suggestions on places to go? We need a place with boat rental and a campground nearby, so that's going to limit our options. Thanks First Timer on This Board michael

Posts: 32954 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Welcome! Do a search using the last year's data entering Indiana Lakes, and then lake names in specifics. Mike Hulbert guides that water, Slamr fishes it some, ToddM is a regular over there, and many more fish it; you should end up with enough info to get you on the fish!

Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | I agree with what Steve said, do a search, or check out some of the fishing reports that have been posted. There are campgrounds around, but the boat rentals are pretty low grade boats. When are you thinking about going? I would be glad to help you out anyway that I can. Shot me an e-mail at: [email protected], or you can get a hold of me by phone or through my site: http://www.mikehulbert.com I look forward to hearing from you,

Posts: 462 Location: Syracuse, Indiana | Webster is the "big name" lake, with numbers and size. The Barbee Chain is coming on strong. Tippecanoe and attached waters hold bigger fish on average, but fewer of them. Loon, Skinner, and Upper Long are all good lakes for a change of pace. There always seem to be fish following the shad in open water, and there always seem to be fish shallow. Look up a local guide (Vince Weirick, Chae Dolsen, and Mike Hulbert are all good choices) and learn from them. If you are a Muskies, Inc. member, research the lunge log. If not, join! The Webster Lake chapter is holding their annual banquet and lure swap this Saturday. Check out their web site for details. Remember to CPR!

Posts: 20273 Location: oswego, il | The only boat rental I know o is on webster and they are small boats. You could always rent a bigger boat with a guide. Mike Hulbert is a good one, so is Ralph Florio and the other ones lited above. There are also motels in town too.

Location: Minneapolis, MN | You asked about waterholes.... Stimelators (yes that's how they spell in IN) is located walking distance from The Lodge Motel and a few places to eat in town. Bring plenty of $1's because you don't need anything larger at that place LOL

And that's due to the fact that the owner's last name is Stimel. Good times there...good times. Lots of good laughs and dollars spent...

Posts: 1335 Location: Chicago, Beverly | tippy boat company rents boats as does patona bay. fishermans cove rents boats. I think tippy boat will still deliver the boat to whichever lake you want to fish.. feel free to pm me for more info on those places.. places to stay: the lodge, pic a spot, fishermans cove, dixie haven, plus if you take a drive around the lakes area there are still cottages to rent though its usually by the week.
