Location: Genoa City, WI | They came out late in the year and only a few shops got them in time for the latter part of the season. They were put through plenty of tough tests for 6 months before being released to the public.

Location: WI | What the Shimano rep for our store has told us is they are pretty much a Calcutta with some cosmetic differences. They use all the same mechanism, and dont have any more or less plastic parts on the inside. A few differences on the outside, such as the finish, a few more plastic parts such as the star drag. I picked one up to try out, I havent got to use it other than in the parking lot so far but it seems like a solid, smooth, well built reel. In its price range I would choose this over the others, I cant wait to see it in action. |

| I asked Brett Erickson from Thorne Bros about the Corvalus reels, and he said they used them during the Simply Fishing Schools on Lake of the Woods last summer, and they held up great with no problems. Awful nice reel for the price it seems!!

That's pretty close. One of the other things between the two is that the Calcuttas are a one piece cold forged aluminum frame where the Corvalus is a die cast frame. Both are very strong and unbending. Also the Calcuttas have a better drag system.
