need to know how these are for a first time boater. picked one up that was in cherry condition for only 50$ but not sure how to read the signals that come on the flasher, like hard bottom or weeds, suspended fish, things like that.. any help would be good.. thanks karol

I used to have one way back in the day. Harder bottom will bring back a stronger bottom signal. Bait and other fish will show up as blips in between. Weeds will be weaker signals coming up from the bottom. Best way to try it is to goto areas where you know what is down there and check it out. It is a nice little unit and was great for it's time.
