Posts: 147 Location: WI - Land of small muskies and big jawbones | You have one weeks vacation to take anytime between May 1st & the end of October and you want the best odds of catching a 50" muskie during that week. You have to choose between only Wisconsin or Minnesota. Which would you choose? Edited by Lockjaw 12/23/2004 11:24 PM

Posts: 4266 | I used to spend 2-3 weeks in Wisconsin for decades. After 1 trip to MN, that's where I spend my vacations now.....and not just for the muskies. Beav

Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | Pretty easy answer, Minnesota. Or you could always head down to Indiana and spend a week with me!! ha ha If you are looking for that magic 50 incher, MN is not a sure thing as nothing is in musky fishing is, but your chances are a lot better in MN.

For its accessibility from my home you can't beat it. But for a week vacation, I don't think so. Somehow, it just doesn't remind me of pristine up north muskie waters!

| I spend more time in WI, but MN has developed into an awesome fishery. The nice thing about WI is the enormous number of lakes with muskies, and the WI A+ lakes give you a legitimate shot at a 50 incher. MN has much fewer lakes with muskies, but several of the top MN lakes offer you the best chance at a 50 right now, maybe even better than Canada. | |||

Posts: 4266 | I must add, that when I go to MN, it's a family vacation. I can have a legit shot at a 50=" fish, lots of pike, big blugills and perch and walleyes too. I haven't found anywhere in WI where I can do that. Take the muskies out of the equation, and I'd never fish anywhere else but The Mississippi River.......HEY! I'm fishing both states at the same time! Beav
