Posts: 238 | Thought you guys might smile when you see the attached photo of my incidental catch during a muskie fishing trip to nw Wisc this past fall. We had suckers out and were moving slowly with the oars when I noticed I was marking lots of baitfish on the locator. I took my 5-yr-old's 2-foot pole and dropped down a zip lure and quickly stuck one of those "baitfish" (my first fish caught on a zip). Later that day we were in the same area, marking the same baitfish on the locator and I decided to jig my fuzzy duzzit. I dropped it to the bottom and then brought it up a bit. Then it acted like it was caught on a small branch or something so I fiddled with it a bit. Eventually I just reeled it up to find the "monster" fish attached in the mouth with the front hook. After about 6 yrs, that's my first fish caught on my lg fuzzy duzzit. Ever caught one of these like this before? Attachments ---------------- FuzzyDuzzit112004.jpg (71KB - 132 downloads)

Location: Somewhere on the water!!!!!!!! | That's a pretty cool picture. I was trolling a local lake last fall and was marking a lot of fish down deep. I tried to get my baits down to them by using deep divers and a lot of line but didn't manage to get any strikes so I decided to cut the motor and vertical jig for them. Well after about 20 minutes this is what I came up with.............I thought it was a big Walleye at first. It was also caught on a Fuzzy Duzzit. Posts: 1086 | I tell ya...those Crappies...they'll just about anything that's twice their size it seems! My buddy and I were fishing for Striper this past summer, using larger lures..and a Crappie took his Striper lure. Too funny. Aggressive 'lil fish. I have two great photos at home that come to mind for this thread that I'll need to scan and post.

Posts: 1245 Location: Madtown, WI | Hey Corey....I bet before that whole scenerio someone said, " hey watch this...see how close I can cast to that snapper...." Crappies...the OHTER mean fish... Buddy got a 10 incher on his hawg buster after dark. My favorite was I had a nice black crappie following in my suick...and I was screwing around and said, Yes Corey along the same lines..."watch me fig 8 this fish"....just like a muskie it went around one full 8 and then ate the bait on the high outside corner...there were some tense moments but the monster was netted. No pics though. Cory

Posts: 1086 | Here's the two I was planning on scanning and posting. I found them tonight to scan. Ironically, as I look back on things now, it's funny to find that these two incidental catches were both caught on the very same type and size of bait...just different color patterns...and both fish were caught from the same lake. The Drum fish (Is that a Drum???? Anyone???) was caught in October '03 on a Firetiger pattern Rapala Super Shad Rap. The King Salmon was caught in Sept (I think) of '97. Both out of Manistee Lake in Manistee, Michgan. The King was caught on the Red Head (Red and White) Rapala Super Shad Rap...same size. We were trolling for Northern Pike both times when these incidental fish were caught. I have NO CLUE what this Drum (????) fish was thinking trying to take such a large bait in that tiny little sucker/scavenger type mouth of his! LOL! It's kinda like those Crappie wanting to take baits twice their size...too funny.
