I know that Art Lawton''s disqualified fish of 69 lbs. 15 oz. was caught in the St. Lawrence river. Wondering which part of the river (city and state) it was caught? Thanks

There is some question whether Art Lawton ever caught a fish of anywhere near these dimensions. If so, it is believed to be a MUCH smaller fish. There are also rumours that the fish was bought from the local natives who netted it. If I recall my history, the Lawtons fished around the Clayton N.Y. area. Larry Ramsell's First Edition Compendium has more info on this fish.

Art was very partial to the 8" jointed pikie minnow in yellow, blue, and silver finishes.

Thanks Steve. I have a record fish photo site that I am developing and need the information for a copy of an article featuring some of Lawton's fish, including the disputed fish. I got the copy of the article from Bob Piazza about a year ago when he posted it on Musky Hunter.Bob's grandfather handed the article down to him. Bob was nice enough to allow me to use the photo on my website.
