Posts: 7 | I've been looking at getting a new 13" Grandma but when I thought about it, I've never heard anyone catching a musky on them. Anyone know anyone who's caught anything on a 13" Grandma, and which color? Also, I've been looking at a 8" Tuff Shad but apart from their website, I don't know anyone else who's used them too. Anyone have any opinons on the Tuff Shad. Also, it'd be great to find out what others have been trolling successfully with, this year. So what's your best trolling lure this fall? Thanks. Posts: 71 Location: Lake St. Clair | I have used 9 and 10" Jakes and Grandma's in the fall with success. The smaller Tuff Shads have worked well on Lake St. Clair. Most here use Woodies, Wiley's, Artifact's. Good luck with your choices, there are many. So many lures,,,, so little time.

I love tuffShad and the 8" is my favorite fall bait caught 3 fish on them yesterday. The biggest fish I've seen caught on the 8" tuff is a 52 caught out of my boat two weekends ago and a 52"er last year. Also my buddies use the 13" grandmas i don't but they catch fish on them one of my buddies got a 52"er last year night trolling on close to home. Hope this help, Jason Bond

Posts: 1137 Location: Holly, MI | Like Bob, I'm also on St Clair. Woodies, Wileys, Terminators and Lokes make up most of my ammo. Even short line on down rods don't get deep divers very often, just clip on some lead and run 'em. The wood baits seem to be used as a vast majority on Lake St Clair however many fish are caught on things like Believers as well.

The Tuff Shad looks like an awesome trolling bait, so I am just deciding what size 6 inch, 8 inch, or 10 inch. What do you guys think, the 8" seems to be the best general purpose size?

Okay........I'll give you my opinon. The 8" Tuff Shad is my favorite size. It has caught a bunch of fish, up to 53"s, and I have even caught sub legals (less than 30"s) on it. You can short line it to provoke the high fish, or it can be trolled to more than 30' deep with 130' of 65 lb. line out @ 4.5 mph. (GPS) Although the 5" Tuffs have caught more numbers, I think that the 8" Tuff is just about the right size meal for any size muskie.
