| Okay, I know you kind of just had this discussion, but!! I just made my reservations for the Chapter Challenge and I am trying to get a feel for Minaki. How does it compare to the NWest angle of LOTW. As far as water clarity, fish numbers and size, fishing structures, forage, and so on. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Some of the water there is stained a bit, and some clear. Never fished the Angle, but I truly enjoyed Minaki back when I was hitting that area in search for big fish. Great rock structure, especially in Gun. |

Location: N.W. Ontario | I would classify the area as clearer than the Angle, with really clear water in Big Sand. Big Sand also holds the deepest water at 200 ft. Low light periods shine on these waters, hot, sunny days can be brutal.
As for structure, there are weeds and rock, pretty much the same, as well as current edges which you could look at as important structure. Forage is similiar to LOTW, however huge clouds of bait are much easier to find out here and are excellent for open water casting/trolling tactics. The system has both numbers and some very large fish in it. |

Location: north central wisconsin | Yup, a bit clearer than the angle, because ity does not get the bloom. The same water in LOTW is flowing through the Winnie at Minaki as it is just below the dam from LOTW. Fish seem to be on the same patterns per time of year as on LOTW too, so pay attention to what is working for folks there. Water is usually a couple degrees cooler due to being north a tad, as well as the water being drawn through the dam at Kenora well below the surface. Good luck! |
