Location: Lake Forest, Illinois | I cannot seem to find out much about the musky population in this body of water. Can anyone shed any light?
Thanks |

| Way Dam is on the southern portion of the Michigam. I think the locals refer to that location as Way Dam, many walleyes caught in that area. Peavy Pond is located just north of Michigam, Peavy flows into the Michigam via the Michigam River. I believe that Peavy is known for muskies, but not Michigam. Other good bets in the area are Paint Pond (beautiful!), Stanley Lake, Chicagon Lake, and Emily Lake.
Chicagon is big fish water, essentailly two basins, one shallow and one deep. Lots of ciscos in the deep section. Chicagon is made for trolling - cover a ton of water to locate bait fish. Good walleye bite after dark.
Call Lance Lucky at Lucky's Bait shop for detailed info, he's been catching muskies around there for years and years and years. Nice selection of baits for a small bait shop, and he usually has big suckers on hand. (906) 265-5339. Also, there are two DNR offices in the area, one in Crystal Falls (I think) and one in Norway. The fisheries biologists are very very helpful, will provide lots of tips and maybe fax you lake maps.
Hope that's helpful.
