1st Cave Run
2nd Pomme De Terre
3rd Eagle River
4th TBA, probably Chautauqua again
Championship TBA, rumors are it'll be in MN

Lots of long drives I hope the PMTT knows what it's doing...

Just My opinion.

The PMTT is a national trail. It covers the entire nation. Wisconsin, Ill & Minnie all have local trails. I for one am glad that the PMTT travels all over and receives the exposure it does. It is truely a nation wide tournament. Fishing is different in all areas and I love traveling to see if what works for me in WI. will work for me in KY, NY, or now it looks like Missiouri.

Glad to see it's not the Midwest Muskie Trail. But they better get some more prize money involved or it's not worth that driving with gas at $2.00 a gallon. I'd like to see them pay down the top twenty and make it worthwhile. To do so they must add sponsors and I think by being nationwide they can do so. They also need national TV exposure. Hopefully they are working on it. (They say they are)

P.S. I heard Chataqua in Sept and Madison for the championship since MN is banning tournaments.

It's easy to say it's a national trail, which it is. But don't badmouth it for sticking to the Midwest. It's the only place they get the most participants. Wisconsin comes darn close to filling up each time and so does MN.

I've been going to Kentucky for 3 years now and I don't think they've had more than 120 team when I've been there.

Gotta go to where they will fill up. Otherwise the prize pool doesn't make it worth the trips.

Just my opinion.

Team #2 my thought exactly when it comes to travel time & dollars vs. potential payoff.

Great trail, fun time, great people, great to fish new waters, awsome to fish early in the season, but it's getting tough to justify the money and vacation time to fish the trail.

How about an East vs. West and have the Championship in the middle???

If the PMTT wants to seperate itself from other tournament trails and tours it's going to have to follow in the footsteps of the PWT. New events in new states would create more interest and would probally lead to more money and sponsorships. Maybe it's time for more than 4 qualifiers? Keep the old standbys in Cave Run and Eagle River, but add a NY event, maybe even Lake Sinclaire?

Me thinks local sponsorship participation has a lot to do with it, too? m

The PMTT has made the committment to get bigger and better.I've never fished a PMTT event but have been around several and have discussed the trail as a whole with lots of people intimatly involved. The Muskie market is but a fraction the size of walleye or green carp,er bass, markets. It takes time. Why don't some of the potential sponsors ante up DOUBLE the $$$$$ from some of the grotesque marketing budgets and at the same time, THRUST the Tournies into the national spotlight?Fish for $$$? Fish for the challenge?Comraderie?New lakes? Each tourney is a school, on and off the water.Looking forward to fishing the entire trail next year.I like Missouri!!!!! Steve

The more they make the anglers travel the better the money has to be. They are still in competition to the W.M.T in wisconsin and lots of other tournaments. To pay down only 12 spots is not enough and the amount for those lower spots is not very good. Your right they need more sponsorship so they can pay out more. If they added another tournament I think you would have less teams fishing the full trail and more just picking two or 3 to fish.It is a riot fishing them and it certainly is educational. Best bunch of guys fishing it you could ever meet.
Have to see what happens there befor I'd say I am doing it again and I have fished everyone except last years championship.
I think if they make the anglers travel too far too often it will hurt them. I could be wrong but I know the travel time and expense will play a big factor in it. You may pick up some local teams at certain lakes but will the number of pro teams dwindle. Its a professional trail and you want as many teams fishing them all as you can get.
Therefore you fish lakes in the range where the bulk of anglers come from.

Gandermtguide,
With the payouts as low as they are and only down 12 places the return is not great unless you win. I don't know how many can really afford a 5th tournament on the trail.
Maybe make it 3 and championship. Fish anywhere then as less travel and fish for more money and more down the line. With a field of 150 teams I think they should go down 20 places.

Expect a nearly full field in NY. I know it's a long drive for alot of people, but so is Eagle River for the boys in KY or Ohio. Green River Lake in KY should be considered, further south and the fishing will surprise you. Alum Creek near Columbus Ohio in May should be looked at. Kevin S.
