Location: Presque Isle Wisconsin | Some Presque Isle friends rented a house over on Lake Vermillion in Minnesota for the last two weeks. Fishing the East basin they got off to a slow start in the beginning with warm air and water temps slowing the action. It picked up when water temps cooled a bit.A nice 501/2" fish caugft and released by Rob Benson From Presque Isle.Several other nice fish up to 47" came along on a steady basis. Then towards the end of the trip Mitch Wagner Manager of the Carlin Lodge in Presque Isle dug out His Huddleston soft plastic bait, dressed with a teaser blade, and started crawling it over the shallower rock bars.Result a 53 1/2" 45lb Monster that ate the bait. The huddleston bait was designed by Ken Huddleston a formwer owner of Castaic Lures who decided to branch out on his own. Mitch took second place in the Musky Classic tounament on this bait and now this monster from Minnesota.I was able to take exactly one day off from guideing here to fish over there and my partner John Byrnes took a 47" fish that day. Both of the over 50" fish were taken on soft plastics with Johns fish taken on a jointed crankbait dressed with a Gapen tail to produce action at very slow speeds.Ken has a web site,Just type in Huddleston baits on a search engine and you should find it. |
