I'm in the process of finishing some crankbaits that I made. What I need to do next is paint them. I have some painted like fire tiger, or black back with silver body. But what I'm wondering is, what colors work well.
1. what are good colors for overcast days, vs. sunny days
2. Clear water vs stained.

Thanks for the feedback

The more time that I spend painting, the more I find that there are always two things that I like to add.
Contrast and highlights.
I believe contrasting colors are more visible to the fish no matter what kind of water you fish.
Highlights for clear water I go with gold or metalflake, and highlights for stained water, I always add a touch of flo orange or chart.

Generally, clear waters I like natural patterns like perch, sucker, and shad, and dark waters I like bright colors like red, white, yellow, or orange. High contrast colors have been the rage lately, and basic colors still work fine.

If I could only have two though, I would go black and jailbird (yellow/black or yellow/purple)!

If the fish are active, they will hit the first lure the see no matter what the color. However, most of the time, color plays some role, but to what extent it is hard to say.
