| My minkota powerdrive auotpilot trolling motor , keeps searching for a heading. It never settles down on a heading . Anyone else have or know the solution? Its either the compass or the chip how does one determine which one to change? |

| Take it to a good service guy, and he'll probably claibrate it. Mine would not track when going in a S-SW direction. Took it to Ed Schilling in West Allis, and he calibrated it. Been working great ever since. |

Location: Hartland, WI | I had this same problem two years ago, took it into a friend at our local marina, had it looked at and they fixed it. Pretty fast too. |

Location: Lafayette, IN | Three things to keep in mind on AP's...
1) make sure the batteries are charged. Low voltage will cause the compass to "hunt".
2) make sure the installation is mounted as close to level as possible. Ever notice how in very rough water your AP will not work as you'd like? Non-level installations will have the same effect.
3) always unplug your power supply to the trolling motor when recharging the batteries. This will eliminate the possiblity of voltage spikes frying your circuit board.
Hope you have it fixed soon. Good luck!
