Just curious what you guys think. IF you could paint a jointed depth raider any way you would like, what would you do???
I am going to send some into MRG and am kicking around ideas and would like some input.

By the way, had a chance to go fishing with CPR_FISH on Pewaukee on Friday, he boated 3, I was glad just to be his net man. Thanks for taking me out, and it was great getting to know you. We will hit Mani, in October for some pigs. Thanks again.

This is a custom order I had mike do for me. I gave him a couple baits to copy and he did.

Black & orange:)

How about Bluegill......You don't see many deep diving bluegill cranks. The muskie follow suspended bait fish here on the chain, primarily bluegill. Why not rip or troll a bluegill depth raider? I know those custom gill paint jobs look super cool!

Thanks for the special day on the water. There will always be an open seat in my boat for ya! Send those pics - [email protected].

Hello Muskie Man,

Your choices for custom painting are endless. I have had a number of customers come to me and ask "what colors and pattern should I have you paint this bait?" What I tell my clients in situations like yours is this. Are you having this bait painted for a specific body of water? Are you fimiliar with what colors work well on this body of water? Are you looking for an "all purpose" type color/pattern? Is there a particular time of the year/season that you want to use this bait? I am sure that most of us would agree that on some bodies of water certain colors will produce better results during particular times during the musky angling season. Determining what colors produce the most action is the toughest part of this task.

In my opinion, I wouldnt get bogged down on patterns that try to resemble an actual bait fish. Keep in mind, that some of the most popular color patterns that have produced again and again over time, dont resemble anything that was created by mother nature and God above. Take for example, the common "Bumble Bee" pattern. I have never seen any type of bait fish that resembles that pattern swimming around in the waters that I fish. I think that if I ever did, I would probably hang up my rods and call it a day! (LOL.)

I hope this bit of info helps you and others considering having a custom painted bait made for themselves. Have a great fall season!

This test pattern has done well for me this year. Doing it on a globe as we speak...not assembles yet but, here's a shot:

I have used Stan Durst to custom paint six Triple Ds for me and they turned out awesome. You can go to the MRG and Durstproducts web sites and look at their color patterns or come up with ideas of your own. It is really special to use custom lures and really test if these colors and patterns matter much. FYI I did Purple Daze, Purple Haze, Sunset Carp, Silver Perch, Lime Sherbert and Jailbird!
